CHARLIE WASHINGTON CARR

   Charlie Washington Carr, 64, retired farmer, died at his home in Walters at 
1:45 o'clock Saturday afternoon, July 11, after an illness of several months.

   The deceased was the husband of Mrs. Virgie Williams Carr of Walters and 
the son of the late Thomas J. and Dora Stephens Carr of Isle of Wight County. 
He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Congregational Christian Church and of 
Walters Lodge No. 186, Woodmen of the World.

   In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Harry C. Carr of Zuni; a 
daughter, Mrs. Mary Carr Hayes of El Cajon, Calif.; two grandchildren; six 
brothers, John A. Carr of Franklin, N.F. Carr of Zuni, and Benny Carr, Crawley 
Carr, T.J. Carr and Will Carr, all of Carrsville; and three sisters, Mrs. 
Viola C. Hall of Carrsville and Mrs. Maggie C. Carr and Mrs. Dana C. Carr of 
Walters.

   Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Carmel Church on Monday afternoon at 
3 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. Ellis Clark, and Rev. T.T. Traynham, pastor of 
the Zuni Presbyterian Church.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

   Active pallbearers were Jasper Carr, J.L. Carr, Lonnie Carr, Claude Fowler, 
C.H. Johnson, J. Sherman Johnson, Otis Joyner and Dr. Ivan Steele.
