Carr (March 30, 1925 - July 9, 2014) Frederick G. Carr, 89, passed away July 9, 2014. He was born in Zuni, VA, the son of the late Thomas Matthew Carr, Sr. and Ada Bailey Carr. He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Powell Carr; son, Richard Carr; and brother T.M. Carr, Jr. Fred is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Lankford (Joe), Debbie Braswell (Wayne), Cindy Goodman (Billy); son, Michael Carr; grandchildren, Chris Braswell, Melissa Gravely, Stephen Cobb, Ashley Goodman, Jonathon Carr, Richard Carr, Jr.; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Lawrence Carr. Fred was a lifelong member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, where he served as Treasurer, Deacon, and Elder. He served as a corporal in the Marine Corp from 1943-1946. He was a truck driver, owner of Carr's Truck Line from 1978- 1990, and continued driving, finally reaching his goal of 1,000,000 miles on the road. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Antioch Church Cemetery in Windsor, VA, with Rev. Dr. Steven Frazier officiating. Friends may join the family Friday night for visitation from 6-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23452 or Gentiva Hospice, 5544 Greenwich Rd., St. 202, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
