CARR IS DEAD. [sic] His Suffolk friends were very sorry to learn this afternoon of Mr. Matthew J. Carr's death in Norfolk. He was a brother of S.J. Carr, of Suffolk, and Claude and Joe Carr, who are traveling. The deceased had only been ill a few days. He was attacked at Lawrenceville. The decedent traveled for August Wright, of Petersburg, a shoe dealer. He leaves a wife, formerly Miss Lelia Hargrove, [sic; Hargroves], of Lower Parish, and a baby boy. ****************************************************************************** SUNDAY FUNERALS. The funeral of Mr. J.M. Carr took place from Epworth M.E. Church Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock and was conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.J. Young, D.D., assisted by Rev. J.P. Barrett, D.D. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, the following pall-bearers officiating: Messrs. Louis Phillips, L. McK. Jack, C.C. Cobb, C.L. Whichard, A.T. Guy, Augustus Wright, Jr., Baker Ames and Walter Martin.
