(Ned) Carr, 51, a well-known resident of the Walters community, died Saturday, June 22, at Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, after a long illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Lucy Stephens Carr of Suffolk, the son of the late S. Livie and Martha Stephenson Carr of Isle of Wight County. "Mr. Ned," as he was known to his many friends in Isle of Wight County, served as foreman of the county State Highway force for more than 20 years. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Congregational Christian Church, WOW Camp 186 and Masonic Lodge 170, Windsor. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Lennie J. Carr of Suffolk; three sisters. Mrs. John I. Duck of Zuni and Mrs. Jasper Carr and Mr. Lennie Carr, both of Walters; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 3 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Christian Church by the pastor, Rev. G. C. Crutchfield. Burial was in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Harry Carr, Edward Lankford, Dr. F.I. Field, Tom Carter, Taylor Holland, John Ballard, Fenton Beale and Tom Stephens. ****************************************************************************** Ocie C. Carr, 51, Buried Sunday In Mt. Carmel Cem'ty Ocie C. (Ned) Carr, 51, well-known resident of Walters community, died Saturday at the Louise Obici Hospital after an illness of many years. He served as foreman of the county highway force for more than twenty years. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Congregational Christian Church, Walters; W.O.W., Camp 186; and Masonic Lodge 170, of Windsor. He was a son of the late S. Livie [sic; Livey] Carr and Martha Stephenson Carr of Isle of Wight County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Stephens Carr, and a brother, Lennie J. Carr, Suffolk. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. John I. Duck, Zuni, and Mrs. Jasper Carr and Mrs. Lennie Carr, both of Walters. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews. Services were held Monday at 3 o'clock at the Mt. Carmel Congregational Christian Church by Rev G.C. Crutchfield. Burial was in the church cemetery.
