All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ DORIS DAUGHTREY CORBIN FRANKLIN - A funeral service for Mrs. Doris Daughtrey Corbin was conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the Rev. E.C. Thornton Jr. Burial was in the church cemetery. The body was taken from W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home to the church at 10 a.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers the family requested that contributions be made to the building fund of Beaver Dam Baptist church. Pallbearers were E.V. Stephenson Jr., A.B. Daughtrey Jr., Lawrence Johnson, Richard Holland, Willie Winborne and J.C. Rose. Mrs. Corbin, the widow of Fred M. Corbin, a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, died Wednesday morning in her home after a long illness. She was the daughter of Edward Dixon and Mrs. Eva Lee Daughtrey. For many years she was financial secretary of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and taught the Ladies Bible Class. She also was a member of the Eleanor Thornton Circle and Faithful Workers Class of the Women’s Missionary Society. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leon Bigby of Hopewell; three sisters, Miss Blanche Daughtrey of Franklin, Mrs. E.V. Stevenson and Mrs. Frank B. Jones of Norfolk; and a brother A.B.
