All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOHN WILLIAM CROCKER Ivor - John William Crocker, 78, died Monday at his home near Smithfield, Isle of Wight County.  Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the home, with burial in the family cemetery.  Mr. Crocker, a farmer, was a son of John William and Sally Westry Crocker.  In addition to his wife, Mrs. Annie Sadler Crocker, he is survived by two daughters, Margaret Jo Ann and Sally Elizabeth Crocker, and one son, John William Crocker, Jr. ****************************************************************************** J.W. CROCKER, 78, ISLE OF WIGHT FARMER BURIED AUGUST 11TH John William Crocker, aged 78, farmer of Isle of Wight County, died at his home near Smithfield August 9th. He was the son of the late John W. and Sallie Westry Crocker. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Sadler Crocker; two daughters, Margaret Joan and Sallie Elizabeth Crocker, and one son, John W. Crocker, Jr. Funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday afternoon, August 11th, at 4 o'clock by the Rev. Samuel Crawford. Burial was followed in the family cemetery. Rev. L.E. Holzbach assisted. "Till We Meet Again: and "God Will Take Care Of You" were rendered by the Mill Swamp Baptist choir. The casket was covered with asters, gladioli and fern. Active pallbearers were R.O. Drewry, Andrew Munford, Grover Harrison, E.F. Little, W.D. Joyner, Clyde Bracey, O.G. Brock and G.H. Hall. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the family cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Sam Crawford, assisted by the Rev. L.E. Holzback [sic; Holzbach]. (Ancestry.com "Virginia Marriages") His in-laws, Robert Lee & Roxanna (Jones) Sadler, are buried in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. There was another John William Crocker in IoW.Co., b. ca. 1857, sn/o Joshua Crocker & 1st wife Eliza A. (Gray) Crocker.
