His death came as a great shock to friends and neighbors whom he had been talking Tuesday night when he appeared to be in the best of health. Besides his wife, Maggie Carter, he is survived by four brothers; R.H. Carter, Portsmouth; M.S. Carter, Battery Park; T.H. and I.H. Carter, Rescue. Two sisters, Mrs. L.F. Hearn, Smithfield and Mrs. A.C. Jordan of Richmond. Funeral services will be held at Rescue Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. Mr. Carter was for many years connected with the Battery Park Fish and Oyster Company. He was a member of the Smithfield Masonic Lodge.
