MARY JANE SWAN CARTER 

  Mrs. Mary Jane Carter, age 80, widow of the late W.T. Carter of Rescue, Va. 
died at her home Tuesday morning, October 31st at 10 o'clock.  She is survived 
by five sons and two daughters - P.N. Carter, I.H. Carter, J.H. Carter, R.H. 
Carter of Rescue, Va.; M.S. Carter of Battery Park, Mrs. L.W. Hearn of 
Smithfield and Mrs. A.C. Jordan of Richmond; twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-
four great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren.

  Burial was at Riverview Church Wednesday afternoon at 3:00.

  Active pallbearers were A.D. Mountjoy, D.L. Mountjoy, J.H. Spady, J.F. 
Barlow, Alex Martin, George Johnson.  Honorary pallbearers were friends of the 
family.
