CRUMPLER The body of Mr. Crumpler, whose death occurred Thursday in Norfolk, was taken from the Funeral Home of E. Lee Cox & Bro., 631 Westover avenue to Mt. Carmel Christian Church at Walters, for funeral services Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev H.S. Hardcastle, pastor of the Christian Temple officiated. The services were largely attended and there was a profusion of flowers. The casket was covered with a pall of Easter lilies, pink roses, baby's breath & fern. During the services the church choir sang "Nearer My God, To Thee," 'Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages." Pallbearers were B.H. Lane, Leander Saunders, B.L. Raiks, John Faircloth, Percy Bradshaw, Dr. E.M. Babb, Dr. S.O. Bennett and R.A. Horne. ****************************************************************************** FRANKLIN PIERCE CRUMPLER Franklin Pierce Crumpler, aged 79, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.D. Bryant Thursday morning, December 27 after an illness of two months. He was a native of Isle of Wight County, the son of the late Arnold and Mrs. Christian Johnson Crumpler. He had made his home in Ivor for 20 years, but since the death of his wife had visited among his children. Mr. Crumpler was a member of Ivor Christian Church. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. J.D. Bryant of Norfolk, Mrs. E.R. Bryant and Mrs. H.E. Branch of Ivor, Mrs. H.P. Murphy of Suffolk and Mrs. S.D. Locke of Portsmouth; two sons, R.L. Crumpler of Petersburg and R.E. Crumpler of Zuni; 28 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral was held from Mt. Carmel Christian Church Friday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Rev H.S. Hardcastle of Norfolk and interment was made in the family plot of the church cemetery. The active pallbearers were: B.H. Lane, B.L. Raikes, John Faircloth, L.T. Saunders, Dr. E.M. Babb, Dr. Benton, R.A. Horne and Percy Bradshaw.
