Crumpler, 78, Buried April 30th At Collosse Joseph Edward (Joe) Crumpler, 78, well-known farmer and sawmill businessman, died at his home at Windsor, April 28th, after an illness of a few weeks. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Beale Crumpler, of Isle of Wight County. He is survived by his wife, the former Marian [sic; Mariam] Elizabeth Spivey; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Crumpler Carr, of Windsor; a sister Mrs. Gertie Virginia Redd, of Walters; a grandson, Lewis Earl Carr, of Windsor, and two nephews and five nieces. Funeral services were held April 30th at the Colosse Baptist Church, the Rev. Rufus H. Corbitt and the Rev. Jack Boyles officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
