MARY EDVINA PITT DAVIS 

MRS. MARY E. DAVIS BURIED LAST SUNDAY 

  Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Edvina Davis, who died at the home of her 
daughter in Eclipse, were held Sunday afternoon at Benns Methodist Church 
on the Smithfield highway, conducted by the Rev. R.V. Owen, assisted by the 
Rev. A.K. Lambdin.

  The church choir sang the hymns "Nearer My God to Thee", and "Peace, 
Perfect Peace".

  Burial was made in the cemetery at Old St. Luke's Church.  Active 
pallbearers were H.C. Hall, R.E. Hodsden, J.W. Chapman, E.E. Holloway, Sr., 
C.S. Jordan and W.R. Minton.

  Friends of the family served as honorary pallbearers.

  The deceased is survived by her daughter, Mrs. E.L. Batten of Eclipse and 
the following sons: James T. Davis of Hampton; Chas. E. of Smithfield; W. 
Fenton, of Norfolk; Paul of Hamburg, Germany: E.N. of Norfolk and H.H. Davis 
of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. E.K. Channell of Suffolk; two brothers, 
James H. Pitt, of Isle of Wight County and J.M. Pitt, of Norfolk and six 
grandchildren.
