WILLIAM DAVIS 

Death of an Old Soldier - Mr. William Davis, of Isle of Wight county, died at 
his residence, near Smithfield, on the 6th inst. in the 67 year of his age. 
Mr. Davis was at the action at Craney Island in the war of 1812-14, and also 
served under General Taylor at Fort Barbour.  He was an excellent horseman, 
and rendered efficient service during his term of enlistment.

Location of burial not known (June 2015). 

*The 1850 Census gives age 60.
