DUCK DEAD Suffolk, Va., Sept. 16 - Mrs. Elizabeth Duck is dead. The end came at 9 o'clock Sunday at her home in Isle of Wight County. Before her death there were living five generations of the same family. She leaves one great-great grandchild. This was the only person who has ever lived or died in this section leaving a descendant so many generations remote. The deceased was the widow of the late Timothy Duck, who died twenty years ago at the age of 85 years [sic*]. Mrs. Duck was nearly 92 years old. The funeral service was conducted today from Beaver Dam Baptist Church near Carrsville. The pastor, Rev. Thorbarne Clark, had charge of the obsequies. Mrs. Duck was the oldest member of Beaver Dam. She had been a communicant since 1835, 72 years. Mrs. Duck is survived by living descendants as follows: three daughters, two sons, twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The last named is an infant, Pearl Holland, Chicago. She is a daughter of J. Quincy Holland, a great-grandson of the deceased. The children are Mrs. Margaret Holland, of Suffolk; Mrs. Virginia Frances Eure, of Gates County, N.C.; Mrs. Martha Outland, of Dales, Va.; J. Timothy Duck of Elwood, Va., and Claude H. Duck of Franklin. Among the well-known grandchildren are Hon. William S. Holland, an attorney of Windsor, Va., and Hon. J. Peter Holand, a politician and financier, of Franklin, Va. She also leaves a half-sister, Mrs. Nancy Lankford, of Isle of Wight County, who is in her 89th year and in good health. One of the deceased's sons, J.H. Duck, was a Confederate soldier of Co. F, 61st Virginia Infantry. He lost his life just before the battle of Gettysburg. Elizabeth (HOLLAND; Mrs. Timothy) DUCK, b.
