He was son of the late David Henry and Caroline Carr Duke of Isle of Wight County, and husband of Mrs. Maggie Eley Duke. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Miss Audrey Eloise Duke, both of Carrsville; a son, Ray Eley Duke of Suffolk; a grandson; a brother, Jesse P. Duke of Suffolk; and two sisters, Mrs. Ola Turner of Portsmouth and Mrs. Henry Carr of Suffolk. Funeral services for Mr. Duke were held in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock, with Rev. R.D. Stephenson officiating. Interment was in the Beaver Dam Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Sherman Butler, Jasper Daughtrey, Crawley Johnson, J. Fenton Matthews, W. Hunter Scott, Edward Simons, Lyle S. Smith, C.C. Vaughan, 3rd, George T. Wade, and Sheriff W. Colgate Whitehead.
