DUKE, 91, TO BE BURIED TUESDAY CARRSVILLE - Mrs. Mamie Nelms Duke, 91, will be buried Tuesday in Beaver Dam Cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. at Beaver Dam Church by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, pastor. Mrs. Duke died Sunday at 8:05 p.m. at her home following a lingering illness. A native of Windsor, she was a daughter of James Edward and Mary Darden Nelms of Isle of Wight county, and the widow of John F. Duke, Sr., who died last April. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and its Woman’s Missionary Union. She was a former school teacher in Nansemond County. She is survived by two daughters, Miss Elizabeth Duke of Carrsville and Miss Louise Duke of Carrsville and Oceana and a son, John F. Duke, Jr., of Carrsville. ****************************************************************************** MRS. JOHN F. Denson and the Rev. N.C. Clifton. Pallbearers were Jarvis Howell, Hunter Daughtrey, Emmitt Rawls, William Rose, John Edward Rose, Jr., W.T. Winborne, J. Dewitt Wright and Roy Worrell.
