MELVIN SCOTT DODSON

   Smithfield - A funeral service for Melvin Scott Dodson, 61, was held Thursday 
at 3 p.m. in Smithfield Baptist Church by the Rev. Warren F. Taylor. Burial was 
in St. Luke’s Memorial Park.

   He died Tuesday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk.

   A native of Halifax County, he was the husband of Mrs. Nancy Bryant Dodson. 
He was retired owner-operator of Dodson Equipment Co.

   He was member of Smithfield Baptist Church and president of the Smithfield 
Kiwanis Club and Smithfield Senior German Club.

   He also was a past president of the Farm and Industrial Dealers Association.

   Other survivors include a son, Melvin Scott Dodson, Jr. of Smithfield; a 
daughter, Miss Nancy Hall Dodson of Charlottesville; and two brothers, Lewis M. 
Dodson of Turbeville and George E. Dodson of Franklin.
