DELK One of Smithfield’s oldest and most beloved citizens, Mrs. Anna Cary Delk, died in a local hospital on Friday, April 12. She was the widow of the late George William Delk, and daughter of the late Capt. O.G. and Anna Maria Spratley Delk. Mrs. Delk was a lifelong resident of Smithfield. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and the Col. William Allen Chapter D.A.R. Graveside services were conducted at Ivy Hill Cemetery on Saturday, April 13, at 4 p.m., by the Rev. Albert Hayward, Rector, Christ Episcopal Church. Colonial Funeral Home handled arrangements. Pallbearers were Rodham Delk, F.B. Simpson, Jr., Cecil Gwaltney, Col. Harry Stultz, Jr., Cecil Gwaltney, Jr., Travers Edwards, Edmund Clarke, and George F. Whitley, Jr. Anna Cary (DELK; Mrs. George W.)
