CARSON ALFRED DELK

   SMITHFIELD - Carson Alfred Delk, 82, a retired grocer, died May 18, in a 
nursing home.

   Mr. Delk, an Isle of Wight County native, owned Delk’s Grocery.  He was a 
member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church, Ivor.

   Survivors include his wife, Fannie Gwaltney Delk; three daughters, Charleen 
D. Ashburn of Suffolk, Betty D. Beaton of Smithfield and Yvonne D. Gilmer of 
Stephens City; a brother, Howard E. Delk of Smithfield; five grandchildren; 
and a great-grandchild.

   Funeral arrangements are pending.  Memorial donations may be made to the 
Isle of Wight Rescue Squad.

         OPENS STORE 

  Carson Delk has opened store in the building formerly operated by Kenneth L. 
Gwaltney.  Mr. Delk opened for business late last week. 

GWALTNEY drowned 16 Aug 1937, James R., off Morgart's Beach.  His obits
