Mrs. Emma Presson Delk, 55, died today at her home in Isle of Wight County after a heart attack and her friends said they believed her condition was worsened by the fact her son, 19, had been notified to appear for a draft physical examination. The examination call to James Allen Delk, 19, was deferred by Selective Service authorities as a result of his mother’s death. He was due to report in Richmond today. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. T.P. Batten, Jr., of Smithfield; four sons, Louis P. and James Allen Delk, both of near Smithfield, sons of her second husband, the late William M. Delk and W.B. Little of ['Ivor, and H.F. Little of' omitted*] Amonata, sons by her former marriage with the William D. Little; two stepsons, C.S. Delk, of Ivor, and M.A. Delk, of Smithfield, and two step-daughters, Mrs. R.J. Little, Sr., of Smithfield, and Mrs. W.B. Moody, of Ivor; four sisters, Mrs. J.F. [sic; J.S.*] Jones, of Norfolk; Mrs. Samuel L. Jones, of Sedley; Mrs. L.R. Presson, of Hopewell, and Mrs. L.E. Gwaltney, of Newport News, and two brothers, B.C. and E.T. Presson, both of Windsor. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon in Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. L.E. Holzback [sic; Holzbach], pastor of the Mill Swamp Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mill Swamp Church Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. Emma P. Delk Buried Sunday At Mill Swamp Church Mrs. Emma Presson Delk, 55, died at her home near Smithfield early Friday morning after a short illness. She was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, a member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church and the Ladies Bible Class of that Church. She was the wife of the late William M. Delk. She is survived by one daughter Mrs. T.P. Batten Jr., of Smithfield; four sons, W.B. Little. Louis P. Delk and James Allen Delk, all of Ivor; H.F. Little of Amonata; two step-daughters, Mrs. R.J. Little Sr. of Smithfield; Mrs. W.B. Moody of Ivor; two stepsons, C.S. Delk of Ivor, and M.A. Delk of Smithfield; four sisters, Mrs. J.S. Jones of Norfolk; Mrs. Samuel L. Jones of Sedley; Mrs. L.R. Presson of Hopewell, and Mrs. L.E. Gwaltney of Newport News; two brothers, B.C. and E.T. Presson, both of Windsor; and three grandsons. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 P.M. in the chapel of the Bullock Funeral Home by the Rev. L.E. Holzbach, pastor of Mill Swamp Church. Burial was in Mill Swamp Cemetery.
