HOWARD EUGENE DELK

   SMITHFIELD - Howard Eugene Delk, 68, of Route 3, a retired farmer, died 
Sept. 22, in a Newport News hospital.

   Mr. Delk, a native of Isle of Wight County, was a member of Mill Swamp 
Baptist Church, Ivor, where he was a trustee and a Sunday school 
superintendent.  He was an Army veteran of World War II.  He was awarded the 
Bronze Star.  He was treasurer of Mill Swamp Cemetery Corporation.

   Survivors include his wife, Hazel Dailey Delk; two daughters, Diana Delk 
Gahan of Newport News, and Katherine Delk-Calkins of Indianapolis, Ind.; a 
son, Howard D. Delk of Richmond; and four grandchildren.

   The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in Mill Swamp Baptist 
Church, Ivor, by the Rev. Douglas Cotter.  Burial will be in Mill Swamp 
Cemetery.

   Memorial donations may be made to Mill Swamp Cemetery Corporation, c/o 
Louis Delk, Route 2, Box 126-B, Ivor, Va. 23866.
