All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ OWINGTON GORDON DELK O.G.DELK, 74, BURIED APRIL 20TH IVY HILL CEMETERY Owington Gordon Delk, 74, of Morgarts Beach, near Smithfield, died suddenly at his home at 10 a.m. April 18, 1956, at 10 a.m. [sic] of a heart attack. He was the son of Capt. O.G. Delk and Anna Maria Spratley Delk. Before his retirement in 1952, he was connected with the Washinton Steamboat Company and the Old Dominion Lines. Later, he was in government employ. He attended Randolph-Macon Academy at Bedford. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, a member of the Smithfield Union Masonic Lodge No. 18, and local Royal Arch Chapter No. 67. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lena Frances Tulloss Delk, formerly of Haymarket; three sons, O. Gordon Delk, Jr. of Washington, Rodham T. Delk of Smithfield, and Frank Simpson Delk of Hyattsville; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Bouknight of Columbia, S.C., and Mrs. Anne Pryor of Hyattsville; two sisters, Mrs. George W. Delk and Mrs. F.B. Simpson Sr., both of Smithfield; 11 grandchildren, one of whom, Johanne Pryor, lived in the home with her grandparents. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Ivy Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Ernest Forster rector of Christ Episcopal Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. William Brayshaw. The procession left the Jones Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m. The family requested that flowers be omitted.
