Delaney, aged 77, widow of Charles A. Delaney and daughter of the late Richard Crawley and Mrs. Mary Whitney [sic; Whitley] Edwards, died at Smithfield Saturday night at 11:15 o’clock. She was a native of Isle of Wight County and a former well-known resident of Norfolk, and had resided in Smithfield for the past six years. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Amada Clark, of Smithfield, and Mrs. T.E. Baird, of Norfolk, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services were held at H.D. Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, 610-12 East Freemason Street, Norfolk, yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with the Rev. L.F. Paulette, pastor of Smithfield Baptist Church, officiating. The casket was covered with a cluster of Premier roses and fern. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Six undertaker’s assistants served a pallbearers. ****************************************************************************** MRS. CHARLES A. DELANY [sic; DELANEY] Mrs. Charles A. Delany died April 18 at the home of her sister Mrs. J.D. Clarke, after an illness of several months. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and two sisters, Mrs. T. Edwin Baird of Norfolk, and Mrs. John D. Clarke of Smithfield. Funeral services were conducted at the H.D. Olivers Funeral Home in Norfolk, by Rev. L.F. Paulette.
