CITIZEN OF ZUNI TAKEN BY DEATH 

John B. Duncan, Prominent Electrical Engineer of Isle of Wight County, 
   Dies Suddenly Last Night. 

  John B. Duncan, aged 62 years, a very prominent citizen of Zuni, Va., died 
very suddenly at his home Thursday night at 7:55 o'clock. 

  He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Duncan, one son, Lewis Duncan, both 
of Zuni, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. J.O. Mitchell, of Roanoke; Mrs. Maggie Van 
Miller, of Johnson City, Tenn.; one half-sister, Miss Effie Duncan, of 
Saltville, Va., and several nieces and nephews. 

  Mr. Duncan has been employed by the Norfolk & Western Railroad Company for 
the past thirty-one years as electrical engineer. 

  The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at 
Antioch Christian Church conducted by the Rev. White, Dr. W.D. Harwood, and 
the Rev. V.L. Fisher.  Interment will be made in the church cemetery.

John m. Myrtle FRANKLIN (1882 - 1956), daughter of John Henry & Arrabella 
   Mildred (CREASY) FRANKLIN, 20 Sep 1910 in Bedford Co.  The Bedford Co. 
   M.Reg. {BVS copy} 1910 p. 11 gives b. & res. Franklin Co., son of 
   William Alfred & Mollie DUNCAN.

The D.Cert. (25073 {Bonbrook Dist., Franklin Co. #9}) of his brother James 
   gives John Alfred, son of Wm.A. & Mary (YEATTES) DUNCAN, all b. VA. 

The family appeared in the 1880 Census in Callands Dist., Pittsylvania Co., 
   with his maternal grandmother Martha YEATTS.  William A. DUNCAN & Mary J. 
   YEATTS 7 Dec 1871 in Pittsylvania Co.  (Ancestry.com VA Compiled Marriages) 

His father-in-law (1825 - 1919) was a Confederate veteran, having served as 
   a private in Co. A, 2nd VA Cavalry.  He is buried with his first wife in 
   the FIELD-HUBBARD family cemetery, Huddleston, Bedford Co.  His widow 
   (1845 - 1948) is buried in Fernwood Cemetery, Lansdowne, Delaware Co., PA.
