All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ BLANCHE DARDEN Blanche Darden, 8 [sic; 9*] year old daughter of Elmer Darden and Mrs. Martha Gardner Darden of Isle of Wight County, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 13. Her death resulted from injuries reported to have been sustained when she was accidently caught in a corn-shucking machine. The little girl is survived by her parents; six sisters, Mrs. W.L. Hedgepeth of Portsmouth and Mrs. Hazel Johnson, Mrs. Nellie Rauss, Mrs. Lewis Turner, and Misses Lucille and Martha Ann Darden, all of Franklin; and nine brothers, Clayton, Clifton, Elmer, James C., Joseph, Julian Philip, Roy and Willie Darden. Final rites were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, assisted by Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were John Robert, Linwood, Luther, Tom and William Darden, and Tommie Hedgepeth.
