All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ DOROTHY CAROLINE PILAND DARDEN CARRSVILLE - A funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy Piland Darden, 60, of Rt. 1, Carrsville, was held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton. Burial was in Beaver Dam Cemetery, W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Darden died Wednesday at 5:20 p.m. in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of Isle of Wight, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Elizabeth Pearce* Piland and the widow of Rufus Darden Sr. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Survivors include five sons, Raymond Darden, Marvin Darden and Rufus Darden, Jr., all of Carrsville, and Luther Darden and Bernard Darden both of Suffolk; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Johnson of Suffolk; one brother, George Piland of Newport News and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers were Wayland Perry, Pete Holland, William N. Howell, James M. Carr, Willie Bradshaw, Ray Thomas, Ryland Duck and Chesley Munford. Dorothy Caroline (PILAND; Mrs. Rufus E.
