Edward C. Thornton Jr. and the Rev. Jerry Odom. Burial was in the church cemetery with W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Hurley Byrd, Percy Strictland, Richard Sydnor, Robert Babb, Billy Peace, Starling Jones, Harvey Griggs and Durward Holland. Darden, 30, died Friday at 3 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital. A native of Nansemond County, he was a son of William Goldie and Mrs. Virgie Johnson Darden of Nansemond County and the husband of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rose Darden. He was member of Colosse Baptist Church. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters, Linda Carol Darden and Rose Renee Darden, and two sons, Thomas R. Darden Jr. and Karl Randolph Darden, all of Holland; six sisters, Mrs. Doris Hill, Mrs. Minnie Lankford, and Mrs. Sandra Cook of Franklin, Mrs. Glenn Taylor of Holland, and Mrs. Mae Whitmore and Miss Joyce Darden of Suffolk; and two brothers, William C. Darden and James A. Darden of Holland.
