BURIED DEC. 28 Alice Scott Dornin, 77, died very suddenly at her home on Christmas Day. A native of Isle of Wight County, she had lived in Washington for the past 45 years. Besides her two sons, Emmett Dornin of New York City and Lt. Commander Herbert S. Dornin of Seattle, Washington, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Joe M. Jones of Smithfield, and Mrs. W.C. Tilghman of Norfolk; two brothers, Carlisle Scott of Norfolk, and A.P. Scott of Smithfield. Funeral services were conducted Friday, December 28, 1951, at the Hysong Funeral Home. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Alice V. (SCOTT; Mrs. T.S.) Scott. (17 Nov 1897 IoW.) Confederate veteran John Franklin SCOTT 1m. Ann E. BROCK (10 Oct 1867 IoW.). Widowed, he 2m. Mary Emma DOYLE (4 Feb 1879). He is buried in a SCOTT family cemetery on Bethany Church Rd. A photo of his CSA monument is posted with his Find a Grave Memorial, #159415876. Apparently the monument was installed after the cemetery was visited (2007).
