Everett, Sr. Died June 20th In Norfolk, Va. James A. Everett, Sr., 71, of Smithfield, died June 20, 1957 at 10 A.M. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Virgie L. Lambdin, 3574 Kentucky Avenue, Norfolk, after a long illness. He was a son of John J. and Mrs. Sara E. Everett. He was a member of Benn's Methodist Church, Smithfield. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen M. Everett, of Smithfield; four daughters, Mrs. Lambdin of Norfolk; Mrs Louise M. Gwaltney of Hampton; Mrs. Elizabeth E. Gale of Carrollton, and Mrs. Susie E. Barrett of Suffolk; two sons, James A. Everett Jr. of Smithfield and John E. Everett of Carrollton; one sister, Mrs. E.C. Mumford [sic; Munford] of Norfolk; three brothers, Robert L. Everett of Norfolk; Wesley Everett of South Norfolk, and George W. Everett of Newport News; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 3:30 P.M. at the Jones Funeral Home by the Rev. Warren F. Taylor, pastor of the Smithfield Baptist Church. Burial was in St. Luke's Memorial Cemetery.
