Warren F. Taylor of Smithfield Baptist Church. Burial was in Old St. Luke’s Cemetery, near Smithfield. Pallbearers were Carl W. Barlow, Thomas G. Barlow, Linwood J. Hundley, James E. Pierce, J. Ricks Wilson and Paul Godwin. Mrs. Edwards, 70, of Route 1 died Sunday in Hillcrest Nursing Home, Suffolk. A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of William E. and Mrs. Josephine Turner Washington and the wife of Fitzhugh L. Edwards. She was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church and its Women’s Mission Society and the Auxiliary to the Pagan Pines Veterans of Foreign Wars Barracks. Besides her husband, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Theodore B. Ray, and a son, Fitzhugh L. Edwards Jr., both of Smithfield; two sisters, Mrs. Mitchell Simmons of Waverly and Mrs. Frank Ollice of Portsmouth; six brothers, W. Thomas Washington of Suffolk, J. Robert Washington of Goldsboro, N.C., Matthew T. Washington and James E. Washington of Norfolk, Joseph D. Washington of Boykins, and Augustine A. Washington of Jacksonville, N.C.; and two grandchildren. Hattie (WASHINGTON; Mrs. Fitzhugh L.
