Hooper and James P. Councill. Burial was in Uzzells United Methodist Church Cemetery. Edwards died Thursday in his home. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the husband of Mrs. Catherine E. Edwards. He was a retired supervisor for I.T.T. Gwaltney and was member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Linda E. Richardson of Richmond; two sons, Capt. Joel A. Edwards of Kingsport, Tenn., and Paul E. Edwards of Nashville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Melissa S. Pulley of Newport News and Mrs. Joyce S. McNeil of St. Louis, Mo.; two stepson, David R. Sawyer of Richmond; four sisters, Mrs. Edith E. Armstead of Amelia, Mrs. Catherine E. Glasscock of Richmond, Mrs. Margaret E. Edwards of Smithfield, and Mrs. Jeanette E. Matthews of Surry; a brother, Charlie L. Edwards of Suffolk; five grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
