EDWARDS Funeral services for Linwood H. Edwards, who was killed in an automobile accident on the Suffolk-Windsor highway, were conducted Monday afternoon, February 26th at 3:30 o'clock at Central Hill Baptist Church by the pastor, the Rev. George Kissinger. The choir, accompanied by Mrs. Turpin Whitley, sang "God Will Take Care of You," and Mrs. M.I. Hall and Mrs. Homer Whitley sang "Life Is Like a Railway." A pall of Easter lilies and red roses covered the casket. Active pallbearers were M.F. Hale, Wilbur Bryant, Stanley Gwaltney, W.D. Joyner, Turpin Whitley, G.W. Ballard, Jesse Barnes and Horace Edwards. Members of Seward Bible Class were honorary pallbearers. Burial was in the church cemetery. His parents, George Lee & Evie (HALL) EDWARDS, and his in-laws, Horace Hamlin & "Lizzie" Eliza Eley (WHITE) HALL, are also buried there. Linwood & his wife Frances Pearl (HALL) EDWARDS (1886 - 1967) were first cousins. Their common grandparents were Col. George F. & Mary Frances (DARDEN) HALL. They are buried in a DARDEN family cemetery, on Uzzell Church Rd. {IWCHS GSSTF report #11}; Find a Grave calls it Darden Cemetery #2 {Cemetery ID #2551337}. Pearl's parents, George Lee & Evie (HALL) EDWARDS, and his in-laws, Horace Hamlin HALL & "Lizzie" Eliza Eley (WHITE HALL) EDWARDS, are also buried in Central Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pearl's mother 2m. Eugene Edgar EDWARDS, Sr. (1845 - 1921), a Confederate veteran. He & his first wife are listed in the Central Hill report {#56}; however, Find a Grave gives them in an Edwards Family Cemetery at Central Hill {Cemetery ID # 2630536}.
