Truitt, pastor of the Suffolk Christian Church, of which she was a member. The rites are at the R.E. Baker and Company Funeral Home. Mrs. Edwards' death occurred at 5:07 a.m., yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. Garland Dunn, 126 Military Road, Suffolk. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Martha Eley Marshall, of Isle of Wight County. She was 78 years of age and had resided in Suffolk 17 years. Previous to her coming here she had been a member of the Antioch Christian Church. She was twice married, first to Marion F. Hall, Sr., and sometime following his death to Clarence Edwards. Surviving her first marriage are one son, Marion F. Hall, of Suffolk, and his son, Marion F. Hall, III. Surviving her second marriage are one daughter, Mrs. A. Garland Dunn, and a granddaughter, Miss Anna Garland Dunn, of Suffolk. Two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Andrews, of Suffolk, and Mrs. Novella Marshall Edwards, of Willoughby Beach, Norfolk, also survive. Interment will be in Antioch Chrtstian Church Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Edwards Funeral Held Yesterday Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Marshall Edwards were conducted yesterday afternoon at 2:30 by the Rev. John G. Truitt, D.D., and the Rev. Dr. I.W. Johnson, D.D., at the R.W. Baker and Company Funeral Home. Mrs. Vernon Holland, accompanied by Mrs. Helen Whitley, sang a solo, "Sunrise Tomorrow." Mrs. Holland and Miss Ruthanna Foard sang "Lead Kindly Light." The pall consisted of red roses and white carnations. Pallbearers were Judge N.T. Gray, W.B. Batten, Marshall Andrews, Willard Andrews, Robert Edwards, Jeff Edwards, Ralph Roberts, Spratley Rawlings, W. Jasper Oliver and Floyd Benton. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Interment was in Antioch Christian Church in Isle of Wight County. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. M. Edwards Buried Tuesday In I. of W. County Mrs. Mattie Marshall Edwards, 78, member of the prominent Suffolk and Isle of Wight family, and daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Martha Eley Marshall, of Isle of Wight, died Monday morning at 5:07 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. Garland Dunn, 120 Military Road, in Suffolk, after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Edwards had been twice married, her first husband having been Marion F. Hall, Sr. Of this marriage there survives a son, Marion F. Hall, Jr., of Suffolk. Her second husband was Clarence Edwards. Of this marriage there survives a daughter, Mrs. A. Garland Dunn, of Suffolk. She is also survived by a grandson, Marion F. Hall, 3d, and a granddaughter, Anne Garland Dunn, of Suffolk; two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Andrews, of Suffolk, and Mrs. Novella Marshall Edwards, of Windsor, and a number of nieces and nephews. She had lived in Isle of Wight until seven years ago, when she went to Suffolk to make her home. She was a member for many years of Antioch Christian Church, and later of the Suffolk Christian Church and its organizations. The body was taken to the Funeral Home of R.W. Baker & Co., where funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Dr. John G. Truitt. Burial was in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery, in Isle of Wight County.
