All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EDWARDS RITES ARE HELD HERE Deceased Was Former Resident SUFFOLK, Sept. 4 - Funeral services for Mrs. Novella Marshall Edwards, of Willoughby Beach and formerly of Suffolk, who died Saturday at the Norfolk General Hospital, were conducted at 3:30 yesterday afternoon at the Hill Funeral Home by Dr. John G. Truitt and Rev. T. Fred Wright. A quartet composed of Mrs. John G. Truitt, Mrs. Ethel Saunders, Rev. Victor Murchison, and James P. Jernigan sang, "Lead Kindly Light." They were accompanied by David Brown Harrell. Rev. Murchison sang The Lord's Prayer. Pall Of Easter Lilies The pall was of Easter lilies and lavender asters and active pallbearers were W.B. Beaton, Judge N.T. Gray, M.F. Hall, Marshall Andrews, Thomas Marshall, Willard Andrews, Erskine Watkins and Malbon Joyner. She was the widow of George R. Edwards, of Isle of Wight County, and the daughter of the late T.J. and Martha Eley Marshall, also of Isle of Wight. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Twiford, and Miss Effie M. Edwards, of Willoughby Beach, and Mrs. Ralph C. Roberts, of Suffolk; two sons, Robert Edwards, of Windsor; Jeff Edwards, of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Windsor Christian Church and was active in the church organisations until she moved to Willoughby Beach to make her home. She was a member of the Willoughby Garden Club and the Shore Circle of the King's Daughters. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. N. M. Edwards Of Windsor Was Buried Recently Mrs. Novella Marshall Edwards, 74, widow of George R. Edwards of Windsor and daughter of the late Thomas J. and Martha Eley Marshall of Isle of Wight County, died at a Norfolk hospital September 1st at 1 PM. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Twiford and Miss Effie M. Edwards, of Willoughby Beach, and Mrs. Ralph C. Roberts of Suffolk; two sons, Robert Edwards of Windsor, and Jeff Edwards of Virginia Beach.
