EDWARDS DIES AT NEWPORT NEWS Samuel H. Edwards, 67, well-known citizen of Newport News, Va., died early Thursday morning of pneumonia after being in failing health for some time. Mr. Edwards is survived by his widow Mrs. Hope Hall Edwards two sons, Robert W. Edwards of Danville, Va., and Horace H. Edwards, of Richmond, Va., three sisters, Mrs. C.C. Crumpler and Mrs. Taylor Robins of Newport News and Mrs. J.L. Warner of Smithfield. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Central Hill Baptist Church at Isle of Wight, Va. The 1942 Delayed B.Cert. of son Robert Willis gives Samuel Hinton Edwards. His marker shows SAMUEL H. EDWARDS. It is pictured with Find a Grave Mem. #105805025, which gives Samuel Hennon Millner Edwards. So do many Ancestry.com family trees. His parents, Eugene Edgar Sr. & Nancy Louisa (ELEY) EDWARDS, are buried in an EDWARDS family cemetery, Central Hill. (Find a Grave Mem. #20048625 & #20476304) There is no IWCHS GSSTF report; #139 is just off Hwy 258, about halfway between the Isle of Wight & Smithfield, and had no visible markers. His step-mother, Lizzie (HALL WHITE) EDWARDS, is buried with her first husband, Horace Hamlin WHITE, in Central Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
