MARY A. WHITFIELD ELEY

   Funeral services for Mrs. Mary A. Eley, wife of the late Mills Eley, were 
conducted from the home at Carrsville last Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock by 
her Pastor, the Rev. Wm. B. Denson, and burial was made in the cemetery at 
Beaver Dam Baptist Church.  Dr. Darden W. Jones, E.P. Jones, Joel C. Holland 
and E.K. Brinkley of Franklin sang "Asleep in Jesus," "In the Sweet Bye and 
Bye" and "It Is Well with My Soul."  Miss Blanche Daughtrey of Beaver Dam sang 
"Some Time We’ll Understand."

   The active pallbearers were: Dr. C.J. Bradshaw, Dr. Gilmer Holland, 
Lafayette Rawls, Jesse Johnson, J. Goode Johnson, Walter Bryant, W.W. Winborne 
and J.L. Harcum.  The honorary bearers were: J.C. Rose, Jasper Daughtrey, R.D. 
Brett, J.E. Rose, J. Clinton Bradshaw, W.J. Daughtrey, James Wright and James 
Mumford.

   Mrs. Eley was 76 years old and had been a resident of the Carrsville 
community for 45 years.  She had been a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church 
for 40 years and a regular attendant upon its services.  She is survived by 
four children, Mrs. Kelly Duke, William H., Richard E. and Miss Mary Eley, 
of Carrsville; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pruden of Carrsville; one brother, 
William Whitfield of Burdette; two grandchildren, Ray and Audrey Duke, of 
Carrsville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
