She was a native of Isle of Wight County. Her parents were Henry and Mrs. Anna Carr Howell. She was the widow of William Norman English. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church. Surviving are three sons, A. Dewey English of Chesapeake, William Henry English of Windsor and Matthew D. English of Camden, S.C.; three brothers, P.D. Howell of Chuckatuck, Clayton Howell of Henderson, N.C., and Norman Howell of Franklin; 13 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. A funeral service was held Mt. Carmel Christian Church by the Rev. Thomas D. Sutton. Burial was in the church cemetery. The body was taken from Purviance Funeral Home to the church at 1 p.m. Thursday.
