English, 66, a retired farmer of the Walters community, died in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth, on Thursday night, April 5, after an illness of one week. Mr. English was the son of the late Joseph H. and Hattie Carr English of the Walters community, and husband of Mrs. Lethia* Howell English of Walters. He was a life-long member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, A.D. English of Churchland, William H. English of Windsor, and Matthew D. English of Camden, S.C.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. L.H. Howell of Franklin; and one brother, J.H. English of Walters. Funeral services were conducted at the grave in Mt. Carmel Cemetery on Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. Ellis Clark and Dr. I.W. Johnson. The active pallbearers were Leon Carr, Harry Drewry, Stanley English, Alfred Howell, P.D.
