Gay Rites Held Sunday SUFFOLK, Sept. 10. - Funeral services for Clarence H. Gay were conducted at 2 p.m. yesterday at the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home by Dr. John G. Truitt, pastor of the Suffolk Christian Church. Rev. Victor Murchison, assistant pastor of the Christian Church, sang, "Lead Kindly Light," accompained by Mrs. Julian Goodwin. The pall was of pink gladioli and red roses. Active pallbearers were T.O. Blanchard, C.H. Elliott, J.L. Umphlette, N.R. Beale, R.P. Pippin, and R.W. Griggs. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** C. H. Gay, 52, Of Smithfield Was Buried on Sunday Clarence Homer Gay, died Sept. 7th at 5 AM at his home near Morgart's Beach after an illness of two weeks. Besides his wife, Mrs. Odie Gay, he is survived by a daughter, Miss Ethel Gay; four sons, S.M., B.F., and L.R. Gay of near Morgart's Beach, and Homer Gay of Treeville; three sisters, Mrs. T.C. Blanchard of Portsmouth, Mrs. W.E. Richards of Portsmouth, and Mrs. W.E. Turner of Norfolk; three brothers, W.A. Gay of Portsmouth, S.L. Gay of Zuni, and I.R. Gay of Norfolk. Mr. Gay was an employee of The Smithfield Farmers, Inc. The body was taken to the funeral home of I.O. Hill & Co., where funeral services were held Sunday at 2 PM, conducted by Dr. John G. Truitt. Burial was in Antioch Church Cemetery.
