Miss Meey [sic] Ann Gay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Gay of Isle of Wight, Virginia, died at her home Friday, December 30, 1932 at 2 o'clock. Burial service was held on Saturday evening at 3:30 o'clock at Stephenson's Cemetery, conducted by Columbus Bailey of Windsor, Virginia. Active pallbearers were Marshall Bryant, Walter Denson, Dock Munford, Linny Bradshaw, Chesley Atkins and Robert Nelms. A loving one from us is gone, A voice we love is still. A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled; God in his Wisdom has recalled, The boom [sic; boon] his love is given, And though the body slumbers here The soul is safe in Heaven. Darling, dear we miss you. Miss you now and forever more, On the ever lasting shore. Gone but not forgotten. col. 3 ISLE OF WIGHT Miss Wady Griggs of Suffolk, Va. spent the Christmas holidays with Miss Frances and Miss Dana Gay. Mr. Wilson Carr and Mr. Marshall Bryant was the guest of Miss Frances and Miss Dana Gay Sunday evening. Mr. Wilson Carr of Isle of Wight, Va. left Monday to spend a while with his parents Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Carr of Suffolk. Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Parkerson and daughter Wilma of Zuni Va. left on Sunday night for home after spending the Christmas with her mother. Misses Erma and Lilian Brock are spending a while with Miss Louise Bradshaw. Miss Delma Munford left Saturday for Buxton Hospital where she will continue her work after spending the Christmas with her father. Miss Frances Gay and Mr. Marshall Bryant was the guest of Mrs. R.W. Stringfield and son Rufus Lee Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. James Linwood Gay of Baltimore, Maryland left for their home Monday after spending Christmas Day with their mother and father Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Gay. J. B. JONES FINISHES 11 YEARS AS POSTMASTER J.B. Jones, Smithfield Postmaster, completed eleven years in that office here Saturday. "Meedy" Media Ann GAY, b. 11 Feb 1898, Isle of Wight Co., d. 30 Dec 1932, at home, Isle of Wight Co., interred on the William Stephenson farm*, 31 Dec 1932 *Farm owner's name from D.Cert. 27565 (Newport #13). Presumably it is the same as the Stephens farm, where her sister Nellie Mae (10 Feb - 2 Mar 1921) was buried. (D.Cert. 1921-5920 {Windsor #5}) The family appear in the 1920 Census in Hardy Dist., on rented farm #189 on the Antioch-Courthouse Rd. Site not reported by the Isle of Wight County Historical Society {IWCHS} Grave Site Survey Task Force {GSSTF}. Their parents, William James & Rosa Lee (WALKER) GAY, are buried in Central Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
