O.R. Hardy and Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial was in the Colosse Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers were: William Pippins, Billy Pippins, Roy Pippins, Jr., Fleetwood Turner Jr., Eddie R. Hedgepeth, Larry Hedgepeth, Johnny Wayne Hedgepeth, and Newman Beale, Jr. Gay died Wednesday in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. He was a native of Isle of Wight county and was a retired security guard for Gwaltney Packing Co. Smithfield. He was a Army veteran of World War II. Other survivors include two daughters, Betty B. Moore of Norfolk and Angela Ann Underwood of Zuni; five sons, James A. Gay of Lakehead, Fla., and Raymond P. Gay, Dennis A. Gay, Edward W. Gay, and Ronald E. Gay of Orlando, Fla.; five sisters, Mrs. Newman Beale Sr. of Windsor, Mrs. Louis Umphlett, Mary Hedgepeth of Zuni, Mrs. Roy Pippin Sr. and Virginia Vasser of Suffolk; and 21 grandchildren.
