He was the son of the late Clarence Homer Gay and Mrs. Odie Griggs Gay. He had retired from Youman's Construction Co. as a carpenter. Survivors include two brothers, Lilton R. Gay and Homer Grady Gay, both of Suffolk. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery, Windsor.
