WILLIAM HURLEY GAY

   Funeral services for William Hurley Gay, 72, who died Thursday night, 
November 1, in a Suffolk hospital after an illness of over a month, were 
conducted Saturday in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home. 
Rev. Curtis Hoffman, pastor of Colosse Baptist Church and Rev. G.C. Crutchfield, 
pastor of Mt. Carmel Christian Church, officiated.

   Mr. Gay was the husband of Mrs. Edna Rhodes Gay of Zuni and the son of the 
late Elisha Everett and Lou Ann Stephenson Gay of Isle of Wight County. He was a 
well known farmer of Zuni and a member of Colosse Baptist Church.

   Besides his wife, he is survived by one brother, Arthur Gay of Walters; three 
sisters, Mrs. Charles C. Bland and Mrs. Otis B. Joyner, both of Walters, and 
Mrs. Edwin Willie Beale of Zuni, and a number of nieces and nephews.

   Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. Active pallbearers were David 
Whitley, Clarence Edwards, Jimmie Bowden, Hubert Jenkins, John T. Spivey, 
Shirley T. Holland, Frank Johnson and Shelby Rhodes.
