John Godwin, Sr. 
Buried Tuesday 

  John Godwin, Sr., age 81, died at his home in Isle of Wight County, 
Virginia, Monday, June 9th, at 8:45 A.M. after a lingering illness. 

  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Mathews Godwin; two daughters, 
Mrs. Jesse Edwards of Isle of Wight County and Mrs. Ivey T. Poole of 
Richlands, North Carolina; three sons, John Godwin, Jr., Paul Godwin, 
and Davis Lee Godwin, all of Isle of Wight County; one sister, Miss 
Susie Godwin, of Ellerson, Va. and three brothers, Philip Godwin and 
Lucius Godwin, of Richmond, and Julius Godwin of Isle of Wight County; 
three grandchildren, Florence Godwin, Evelyn Poole and Talmage Poole. 

  Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 10th, at Uzzells Church 
at 4:00 P.M. with the Rev. E.E. Henley officiating.
