Godwin SMITHFIELD, August 1. - Funeral services for Lucien J. Godwin, 80, who died at his home in Richmond Sunday, were conducted at 3 p.m. yesterday at the grave in Uzzell's Methodist Church Cemetery, Isle of Wight County, by the Rev. Victor B. Anthony. Pallbearers were Harry Wilson, John Godwin, Ralph Godwin, Paul Godwin, William Darden and Eddie Scott. Apr 1872, son of John & Mary Anna (COURTNEY) GODWIN; widower of Sarah HARNESS. His widow, Sarah (YOUNG HARNESS) GODWIN (1897 - 1941), was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Richmond. (Find a Grave Memorial #139861014) His parents m. 11 Apr 1854. (Henrico Co. #39) His father was a Confederate veteran, having served in Co. I, 3rd VA Infantry. Mrs. Mariana GODWIN applied for a pension 16 Sep 1904 in Richmond, where she had been living 7 years.
