STANLEY LANE GWALTNEY 

SERVED ON BOARDS IN ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY 

  Stanley Lane Gwaltney, 81, of Route 2, a retired farmer, died April 6, 1990, 
in a Franklin hospital.

  Mr. Gwaltney, a native of Isle of Wight County, had formerly served on the 
Board of Supervisors and the School Board of Isle of Wight County.  He had 
served on the board of directors of Dairyman Inc., the Bank of Smithfield, and 
Old Dominion Investors Security Co.  He was a board member of Prescription 
Fertilizer Corp. and a vice president and board member of Smithfield Farmers 
Inc.

  He was a member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church, Ivor.  He was a past president 
and 50-year member of Windsor Ruritan Club.

  Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Walden Gwaltney; five daughters, 
Dorothy G. Gwaltney of Windsor, Margaret A. Gwaltney of Ashland, Va., Nancy G. 
Gillette of Odenton, Md., Edith G. Bell of Killeen, Texas, and Linda G. 
Griffin of Smithfield; two sisters, Annie L. Lane of Windsor and Vivian G. 
Dugger of Auburn, Ala.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

  The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Colonial Funeral Home, 
Smithfield, by the Rev. Robert Sharp, the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr. and the 
Rev. Eddie Walker.  Burial will be in Mill Swamp Church Cemetery, Ivor. 
Friends may join the family at the residence, Route 2, Orbit Road.

  Memorial donations may be made to the Lois Hooper Scholarship Fund, Isle of 
Wight Academy, P.O. Box 105, Isle of Wight, Va. 23397, or to the Windsor 
Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 483, Windsor, Va. 23487.
