Gwaltney Jr. SMITHFIELD - William Dudley Gwaltney Jr., 81, 213 N. Church St., died Tuesday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk. A native of Isle of Wight, he was a sales representative for Beamon's Inc. with over 50 years of service. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Isle of Wight Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Green Bell Gwaltney; a daughter, Mrs. Annabelle Gwaltney Whitehead of Courtland; a son, William Stephenson "Steve" Gwaltney of Richmond; a stepson, John M. Bell of Rapid City, S.D.; three sisters, Mrs. Hunter G. Walton and Mrs. Belle G. Warren, both of Petersburg, and Mrs. Emily G. Stafford of Colonial Heights; a brother, Henry O. Gwaltney of Richmond ; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. T.P. Reynolds and the Rev. Fred Wagner. Burial will be in St. Luke's Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence. Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, is in charge.
