ANNIE GRIFFIN, BURIED AT ANTIOCH CEMETERY TUES. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home of C.F. Joyner in Windsor and burial was in Antioch Cemetery for Mrs. Annie Chandler Griffin, widow of J.E. Griffin, and grandaughter of the late Capt. Thomas Traylor, who fought in the War of 1812. Mrs. Traylor [sic; Griffin] died Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.F. Joyner, of Windsor, aged 90 years. She has been a member of Windsor Baptist Church for more than half a century and was the oldest resident of the town of Windsor. Surviving her are her daughter, Mrs. C.F. Joyner; seven grandchildren, Mrs. S.C. Watkins, Miss Francis Joyner, of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. S.T. Riggin and C.F. Joyner, Jr. of Richmond; Mrs. Shirley T. Holland, of Windsor; W.S. Holland, of New York; Frank Smith of Washington, and thirteen great grandchildren. Annie T. (CHANDLER SMITH; Mrs. James E.) GRIFFIN, b. "mechanic" James E. GRIFFIN 21 May 1879 in Isle of Wight Co. (IoW.Co. M.Reg. 1879 p. 186 #23) [He usually appears as a blacksmith.] They appear in the 1880 Census in Windsor Dist., Isle of Wight Co., with children from their previous marriages - daughters A.V. SMITH, 17, & Eva J. SMITH, 10, and sons F[rank] E. SMITH, 12, J[ames] W. GRIFFIN, 14, & C.E. GRIFFIN, 10. They appear in the 1900 Census in Windsor Dist., Isle of Wight Co., m. 18 yrs, 2/6 ch surviving; Annie b. Oct 1847, James b. 03-1836. Her son Frank E. SMITH & grandson Frank SMITH were boarding with them. No D.Cert. found. James E. GRIFFIN, son of N.L. & Clara, 1m. Jane B. PILLOW, daughter of E.A. & F.B.*, 17 Sep 1859 in Petersburg. (Petersburg M.Reg. 1859 p. 106 [#7]) Their son James [W.] was b. 11 Sep 1865 in Petersburg. (Dinwiddie Co. B.Reg. 1865 p. 81 #36) Jane's father Edward Allen PILLOW (1822-1891) was a carpenter, and later a surveyor, and served in Archer's Bttn, VA Reserves, CSA. He is bu. in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. Her mother was actually Edward's first wife, "Nannie" Narcissa A.B. RAINEY PILLOW (ca. 1822-1867).
