All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM ARTHUR HATFIELD William Arthur Hatfield, 72, a well-known farmer of the Windsor community, died Thursday morning, May 24, in Norfolk General Hospital after an illness of several months. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carr Hatfield of this county, and was a member of the Central Hill Baptist Church, Isle of Wight County. Surviving him are one son, L.S. Hatfield, and one daughter, Mrs. Fleetwood M. Turner, both of Windsor; three brothers, J.E. Hatfield of Burdette, M.C. Hatfield of Suffolk, and L.H. Hatfield of Norfolk; and five sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Joyner of Holland, Mrs. L.H. Davis and Mrs. R.L. Berry of Norfolk, Mrs. Eugene Johnson of Panama, and Mrs. Owen Shifflett of Maryland. Funeral services for Mr. Hatfield were held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Mt. Carmel Christian Church, Walters, with Rev. Ellis Clark officiating, assisted by Rev. R.D Stephenson. Burial was in the church cemetery, the pallbearers being B.V. Carr, J.L. Stephenson, C.L. Underwood, J.W. Underwood, M.M. Uzzell and W.C. Wilkins.
