She was the widow of Herman C. Hedgepeth of Southampton County and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Powell of Isle of Wight County. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Surviving are three sons, Paul Hedgepeth of Courtland, Willie J. Hedgepeth of Plymouth, N.C., and Robert F. Hedgepeth of New Haven, Conn.; two daughters, Mrs. Fannie Lee Bellows of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Margie Joyner of Carrsville; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Powell of Smithfield and Willie Powell of Portsmouth; three sisters, Mrs. Virgie Hearn of Hampton; Mrs. Goldie Penant of Newport News and Mrs. Lizzie Byrd of Baltimore, Md., and nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in Franklin. ****************************************************************************** NANNIE POWELL HEDGEPETH COURTLAND - Mrs. Nannie Powell Hedgepeth, 67, died in the home of her son, Paul Hedgepeth on Wednesday, July 2, at 8:30 p.m. after a short illness. The deceased was the widow of Herman P. Hedgepeth of Southampton County and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Powell of Isle of Wight County. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Services for Mrs. Hedgepeth were conducted from the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock by Rev. Tucker G. Humphries, pastor of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Burial was in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery near Windsor. Active pallbearers were Clayton Babb, Charles Braswell, Charlie Dickerson, Joe Dickerson, James Joyner and Clarence Pittman.
