All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ARTHUR HOWELL Arthur Howell, 61, chief guard of police for Union Bag-Camp Corp., died Sunday afternoon in Raiford Memorial Hospital after short illness. He was a native of Isle of Wight County, son of the late Alex J. and Mrs. Ettie Bradshaw Howell. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Blackwater Hunt Club and National Sheriff Association. He served for 17 years as deputy sheriff of Isle of Wight County. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Irene Butler Howell; a brother, Kenneth G. Howell of Sedley, and a sister, Mrs. Leona H. Lankford of Carrsville. The body was taken to W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home where a funeral service was conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. John P. Batkins, former pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, and the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Tim Eure, John Ronscinski, W. Tall Jones, Willie Lee Bradshaw, Robert Rideout, Joel C. Bradshaw, Jr., Robert B. Allport, Jr. and Forrest Lankford.
